Twelve Years

On March 22, 1997 I married my best friend and soulmate. We met exactly seventeen months (to the day) before we got married and twelve short years later we are still deeply in love. We never could have guessed way back then what all was going to take place in our lives. Thankfully we have an awesome God who has seen us through every step of the journey - moving around the country, expanding our family, changing careers and all the ups and downs of everyday life.

In the past twelve years we have been blessed with two beautiful, amazing children and one crazy dog. We have lived in five different states and moved ten times. We have figured out that we aren't cold weather people, that we love good tex-mex and that someday we'd love to live in Taiwan for a while. We have learned that family is not necessarily formed by blood, but by love and that good friends are those people you can visit once every two years and still feel right at home. We have learned that God is faithful even when we can't understand why things happen the way they do. Most of all, we are thankful that we are a family and that God has brought us all together forever.

An Outdoors Kind of Day

A friend (who happens to be a professional photographer) recently stopped by and snapped some pictures of me and kids at the park. I thought they turned out beautifully - even the dog behaved!

Here's the Karate Video

It's not the best quality, but it at least lets you see what he did. He was going so fast that at first, he didn't even let the second instructor get a grip on his arms before he tried to break free. Bummer because it cost him the two seconds he needed for first or second place. I'm just proud of him for being so happy with winning fourth place and not crying over missing a trophy. I must note (for those of you not up-to-date on your release moves) that he did a great job with his technique. He did everything exactly as he should have.

Karate Tournament

Caleb competed in his first karate tournament today. He took part in the 'Escape Drill' competition. He had four different 'holds' that he had to break free from. The kids were judged on speed and accuracy. Caleb placed fourth in his age division. He was very excited because he got a gold medal for placing fourth. I took a video of him doing the drill but am having trouble getting it off our camcorder. Hopefully I can post it soon. Until then, here are some pictures from the day.
