Coming to a Salon Near You...

Caleb decided to help Myah with her hair this weekend.
I think we can cross 'Hair Dresser' off of his list of careers.

Phoenix Children's Museum

We recently went to the Phoenix Children's Museum courtesy of the Phoenix library's Culture Pass program. You 'check-out' tickets to visit local museums for free. It's a great program for families, especially if you're looking for fun stuff to do on a budget.

This is called a 'LegWay' (think Segway - just kid-powered) and Caleb loved it!

The Easter Bunny Cometh...

Last weekend we got quite a bit of a surprise when we woke up to pouring rain and temperatures in the 50's. Of course, Caleb's main concern was the Easter egg hunt, not our backyard which was quickly turning into a lake. Around 11am we decided we might see a break in the clouds so we headed out hoping that by some small chance, the egg hunt would still take place. After loading up the inner tubes, I mean Easter baskets, we headed out to the park. Amazingly, we were able to hunt for some eggs. Caleb was first in line and swam, I mean ran out to grab a bunch of eggs. Myah got her turn a little later and she thought it was great to gather up eggs and put them in her basket. In fact, she's been playing 'egg hunt' since we got home. Caleb got his face painted while we were there and we all had a hot dog lunch courtesy of a local church group. On Sunday morning (after bunny pancakes) we headed to church and the kids had a great time there too. Caleb was very surprised (and excited) to learn that they were having an egg hunt too. Since we had our fill of plastic eggs and candy for the weekend, we took the rest of the day easy. Both kids just got their Easter baskets today because Caleb decided he'd rather wait until the Easter stuff was 50% off so he'd get better stuff than normal - smart kid, and he's only 7. Myah didn't have a clue but as soon as she saw her stuffed duck she let out a loud scream. It's almost as big as she is and now resides in her crib with her bear, monkey and pink bug. It's amazing that there's any room left for her! She's such a girly-girl because one of her favorite things was her bows - she carried them around for quite awhile and kept trying to put them in her hair.

They Belong in a Zoo...

Recently I was able to accompany Caleb's class on a field trip to the Wildlife Zoo and Aquarium. I was a little apprehensive about taking Myah since we would be gone all day and she would miss her nap. I didn't need to worry because both kids were fantastic! They both thoroughly enjoyed all the animals and Myah would put her arms up to want to hold everything she saw. Caleb was in love with all the different animals and we had to take pictures of almost everything. Thank goodness for digital cameras - we snapped over 200 pictures that day! Other than finding his kangaroo hat (it was stuck in a bush and no one claimed it so I left him keep it), Caleb's favorite thing was feeding the giraffes. It was really cool to see how far they could stretch out their tongues for food.

Some other highlights were the petting zoo (we smelled like goats by the end of the day and the animals tried to eat Myah's dress), the aquarium (you could pet stingrays), feeding the Lory Parrots and Turacos (see the video below) and the safari train ride. I would recommend the zoo to anyone in the Phoenix area. It was a great way to spend the day and at the discounted field trip price was well worth it.

Here are some of our favorite shots and a couple of videos.
